The Seminole Tribe of Florida takes a leadership position on responsible gaming. We took the initiative to reach out to the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling (FCGG) and together we created Gamble With Care a comprehensive array of programs that ensure a safe and entertaining gaming environment.
We have instituted a policy that prohibits individuals under 18 years of age from taking part in Live Poker or Bingo. An additional policy is in place that restricts individuals under 21 years of age from participating in any other form of casino gaming.
At SkyCity there are two ways to control your gambling: Self-identified exclusion and Third Party Exclusion. You can either call and speak to our Host Responsibility on 09 363 6000, or if you are at the Casino, please visit the Security desk or speak to one of our security team. Self-Exclusion is a voluntary program that gives anyone the opportunity to take a break from gambling. The decision to self-exclude is an important one. As part of OLG’s efforts to support your choice, self-excluded individuals are not permitted to win prizes.
To protect the well-being of Florida's youth, we have established policies that prevent our adult guests from bringing their children into gaming areas or leaving them unattended anywhere on-property. Failure to comply with our clear-cut policies may result in a guest losing their privilege to game.
To assure that we are responsible vendors of alcohol, we founded the Service Intervention Program (SIPs).
To make sure our guests return home safely, we founded the Safe Ride Program. Look for Safe Ride signs and ask for more information at valet points as well as security podiums.
To support those individuals with a compulsion to gamble, we implemented a Self-Exclusion Program, whereby guests can voluntarily have themselves prohibited from our properties.
In addition, we are proud to help fund 1.888.ADMIT.IT, Florida's 24-hour toll-free helpline for casino players with a compulsion to gamble.

Prevent Underage Gambling and the Consumption of Alcohol
Seminole Casino policy prohibits individuals under 18 years of age from taking part in Live Poker or Bingo. Individuals under 21 years of age are prohibited from taking part in any other form of casino gaming. Minors attempting to utilize false identification will be prosecuted.
Tribal law prohibits anyone under the age of 21 to consume alcoholic beverages.
Casino Self Exclusion Program
At no time does the casino take responsibility of unattended minors. Failure to comply may result in action from the casino to exclude the parent or guardian of the child from the premises. Unattended minors may be handed over to the Seminole Police Department if a parent or guardian cannot be located in a reasonable amount of time.
If you should find a child left unattended, please do the following:
- Notify the Security Department immediately at ext. 1177.
- Stay with the child; do not remove them from the area until a member of the Security Department arrives. The child may have been given special instructions by his/her parent or guardian to stay in that area until they return.

Self-Exclusion Program
What is the Self-Exclusion Program?
The program was established to allow people with a gambling problem to voluntarily exclude themselves from casino gambling activities in all Seminole Tribe of Florida Casinos. In addition, an ejected individual may not enter any of the gaming facilities (such as Hard Rock Live or any other venue in Seminole Paradise) or any of the restaurants located inside Seminole gaming facilities.
How do I get placed on the Self-Exclusion list?
You can contact a Security Representative in person or by phone who will provide you with information and an application to enter the Self Exclusion Program. After completing the application you will be required to provide photo identification that includes your signature. When you file the form in person you will be photographed. That photo and other identifying information will be distributed to all Seminole Casinos.
Can I just mail back the completed form?
Yes. You can mail the Self Exclusion Request Packet to the Seminole Casino Security Department nearest you or return the application form in person to a Security Representative.
What will happen if I go to a casino and try to gamble?
After you are placed on the self-exclusion list, Casino personnel will refuse to accept your wagers or ask you to leave the gaming area. If you do gamble, you would be unable to collect any winnings or recover any losses. Once you are placed into the program you will not be able to receive complimentary goods or services, credit or check cashing privileges or offered any other amenities by the casino.
How long will I be on the self-exclusion list?
That’s up to you. When you request self-exclusion, you will choose whether you want to be excluded for a minimum of one year, five years or for life. If you choose the one-year or five-year option, you must remain on the list for that length of time. Removal from the self-exclusion list will occur automatically at the conclusion of 1 year and 5 year self-exclusions. Lifetime self-exclusions may appeal to have their name removed from the exclusion list only after five (5) years has expired. After that time expires, you may ask to be removed from the list or to be readmitted by writing a letter to the Seminole Tribal Gaming Commission.
To help individuals in their time of need, we collaborated with the Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling (FCCG). They are available for counsel 24-hours a day at 1.888.ADMIT.IT (236.4848).

Online gambling in Michigan is just a little more than a month old, and already residents have another way to protect themselves from themselves.
Casino Self Exclusion Violations
Applications are available now for the Responsible Gambling Database, a self-exclusion tool for online sportsbooks and casinos.
As of Monday afternoon, no residents had applied yet for the list, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Online sports betting and internet gaming launched in Michigan on Jan. 22.
How to apply for the Responsible Gambling list in Michigan
The new MGCB database gives applicants options. They can submit separate applications for online sportsbooks and online casinos, or self-exclude from both. Residents can apply before or after opening any online accounts.
Self-exclusion periods can last one year or five years. After the period expires, the applicant rolls off the list, MGCB spokesperson Mary Kay Bean told PlayMichigan.
Applicants will not be placed on this list until processing is completed by Richard Kalm, the MGCB executive director. The registration process can take up to 45 days. Applicants will be notified by email (if provided) or US mail when they have been added to the list.
Those on the Exclusion of Persons List are automatically added to the Responsible Gambling Database, as well.
According to the MGCB website:
The Exclusion List contains the names of people convicted of certain crimes in any jurisdiction and those placed on any other jurisdiction’s Exclusion List. These individuals may not enter a casino unless ordered by a court or after a hearing granting permission by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The Responsible Gambling Database is separate from the Disassociated Persons List, which applies to the three Detroit casinos. Because of a recent change, you can now apply to come off that list after five years.
However, residents on the DPL are not automatically placed in the Responsible Gambling Database.
Also of note, the MGCB outlines in the form that operators could take the self-exclusion ban further than the applicant intended. For instance, an operator such as DraftKings Sportsbook could ban the applicant from retail casinos in Michigan and other jurisdictions, too.
The agreement states:
I understand internet gaming operators and internet gaming platform providers and/or sports betting operators and internet sports betting platform providers may prohibit me, as a voluntarily-excluded person in the Responsible Gaming Database, from engaging in other forms of gaming authorized by law in this state or in other jurisdictions. This could include, but is not limited to, being banned from their casino properties worldwide for the length of my placement in the Responsible Gaming Database. I understand the Michigan Gaming Control Board is not responsible for keeping me informed of decisions such as these by internet gaming operators and internet gaming platform providers and/or sports betting operators and internet sports betting platform providers.
Other self-exclusion options for Michigan residents
Other tools, such as limits placed on your account per a certain time period, are available with different operators.
Residents can also sign up to be excluded from a single online gambling site.
BetMGM, for instance, has a self-exclusion tool called PlayPause through a partnership with Conscious Gaming. One of the ways PlayPause helps is by not allowing players to cross into Indiana, for instance, to use BetMGM products.
Online operators are required to display the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Gambling Disorder Help-line on their sites. That number is 800-270-7117.
Apps in MI also include a “responsible gambling” section or tab that helps users set deposit, wagering, and time limits. FanDuel Sportsbook’sresponsible gambling section states:
We’re committed to providing you resources and support to have responsible fun, so we’ve made it easy for you to set custom limits on how much money you deposit or wager and time you spend on the app or site. You can also take a Timeout for a short period of time or close your account permanently.
Ultimately, Michigan hopes to give online gamblers plenty of ways to opt-out of playing and encourage gambling responsibly.
